The PACE Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) unites passionate high school students to support PACE’s mission and build awareness for autism. The group is managed by its members and advised by a PACE Marketing and Development staff member.
About the PACE YLC
The PACE YLC is open to high school-age students who are passionate about helping others. Not only is it important to have an interest in autism, but our members must also be self-motivated, responsible, proactive, and enthusiastic. Additionally, the PACE YLC seeks youth leaders who are open to spearheading new ideas and possess strong communication skills.
Commitment
Meetings will be held once a month for one hour during afterschool hours. The exact time and dates are decided by the members. On occasion, more time may be required for specific projects and events. All members are required to support the annual PACE YLC Autism Acceptance Month event in April. Members must be dedicated to PACE and their position on the committee.
Projects and Events
PACE Youth Leadership Committee members plan events and complete projects that raise awareness and funds for PACE and autism in the local community. These may include coordinating fundraising events, organizing outreach activities, giving presentations at school, and recruiting new members. The committee determines the exact programs each year.
Past activities include:
- “Voices for Autism” Benefit Concert at Santana Row
- “Breaking the Silence” Mixer
- Autism Documentary Project
- “Operation Enable” Anti-Bullying Programs
- PACE School Dance
- Restaurant Fundraisers
